Q: Just wondering is there any difference between Derby, Shark, or Big Ben DE Safety Razor Blades?

A: Different safety razor blades will provide different shaving results for the individual using them. For that reason it's recommended that you try a blade sampler pack so that you can "Test Drive" various blades until you land on a blade that provides  a satisfactory shave for you.
Keep in mind that a blade that works well for someone else may not be the cat's meow for you,  and vice versa.
The blades you mentioned Derby, Shark, and Big Ben, are generally considered to be smooth and mild.
By the way, a good rule of thumb is this: You should be able to accomplish between 4 and 6 shaves with any one of those blades.
YMMV: Your mileage may vary based on your beard type, shave prep, and shaving technique.

  1. I didn't like the Shark I thought it was rough. I switched to back to DE shaving after using with multi-blade cartridges. All around it's a much better experience. I'm still experimenting with blades but for now I've been very happy with the Feather's very sharp and smooth so very little pressure gets you a very close shave. I also like the Polsteel Super Iridium, also a very smooth and pleasant shave. I have a pack of Astra to try next. That one was recommended on another blog as being very good and inexpensive. I'll keep you posted.

  4. I just read your blog and found it very informative for those who are using razors for their shaving needs but electric shavers are more reliable than razors and if you are looking to buy the best one then you should take a look at this list of electric shavers. I bet you will find the best one for your needs on this link.
